CHAMBER CHAT – January 2018        B. Halfin 01/02/18

I’ll have to say, it way an major effort for me to leave my warm blankets and get on the computer in my drafty office for this first Chamber Chat of the year, but I was warmed by reflection of what we’ve accomplished and looking forward to where we’re headed!

There were over twenty Parade Entries participated in the Wallis Chamber of Commerce’s 2017 Christmas Parade ‘A Story Book Christmas’ on Saturday December 16, 2017 and although a soggy venture the Parade participants and on-lookers made plenty of good cheer. Thankfully the wet wasn’t cold and the Christmas festivites continued at the Wallis American Legion Hall with a full house for Santa. Once inside, guests were greeted with blasts of great sounds from the Brazos Jazz Band and the Brazos High School Project Graduation Burgers and the Band Boosters Cake Walk raised some funds, while having fun. My fun was watching the kiddos with Santa, some knowing exactly what they wanted to say, while others not quite sure about that guy in the red suit. The Wallis Chamber always enjoys sharing the Christmas Spirit by sponsoring with the annual Christmas Parade and Santa Party and THANKS to the Wallis American Legion too!

Now the 2018 New Year has been ushered in with the arctic blast, as we lay plans to expand Membership and add features to promote Wallis and our area. Recently joining the Wallis Chamber Business Membership is Elan #3 (previously the Meat Market) and it’s very exciting to see their investment to facelift and add new gas pumps taking shape. Other recent or renewing Members are SPJST Lodge 141, Wallis Quick Stop, Los Flores Restaurant, the brand new Wallis-Orchard Gun Range and continued support from Wallis American Legion Post #200. At the end of 2017 a renewed effort went into improvements of the Wallis Chamber Website and Facebook page and we’re looking for support of content and presentation, all suggestions and information are welcomed. Our New Year’s resolution is to continue to make a little go a long way to promote Wallis and the surrounding area business and Community.

Join us at our first meeting of the year on Monday, January 8th at 7pm in the Wallis Municipal Complex, Chamber Room. Wallis Chamber of Commerce, ‘The Little Chamber That Can’ information can be found on www.wallischamber.com, our Facebook Page or Email wallischamber@gmail.com.
