Second Saturdays with Steve: The Art of Hearth Cooking ( at Stephen F. Austin State Park
March 8 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
Join us at the Stephen F. Austin Nature Center to learn all about how people cooked on hearths 200 years ago!
People have cooked above a fire for millennia, but do you know how it’s done? Learn about how hearths work, different cookware used on hearths, and how to bake with a fire. Attendees will also leave with a tasty recipe to try on their own open fire!
This program will be held at 12:30pm at the Stephen F. Austin Nature Center (located one mile west of San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site). Admission to Stephen F. Austin State Park required. A second session will be held at San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site at 2:30pm the same day.
The story starts here, at San Felipe de Austin!
