Fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our community organizations and businesses. It’s important to continue to stay informed and to be vigilante to curb it. Meanwhile, as the online ordering of goods has been a benefit, remember when you do venture out to support your local businesses whenever possible. Many local business’ such as Ben’s Chuck Wagon (979) 478-7538 have come up with Tuesday meal pick-ups to replace canceled group events and others have worked to follow CDC recommendations to keep their staff and you safe, so please respect their efforts. So much of municipal and county budgets depend on the local economy for sales tax revenues to provide basic public services. Also, don’t forget to support local community organizations such as Meals-on-Wheels and the Wallis, Sealy, Bellville American Legions and LIONS Clubs in Austin County, which network to provide various support programs and contributions throughout our community. It’s important to check on your neighbors, since many maybe isolated and in need of a grocery run or just a socially distanced conversation. We’re Austin County and we’re STRONG! Remember, events and dates change as COVID-19 conditions evolve, so confirm before heading out and stay safe.
